The purpose of the Project is creation of the Earth remote sensing space system of the Republic of Kazakhstan including two ERS satellites, ground control complex for satellites and ground dedicated complex for acceptance and processing of space data. The Ground dedicated complex is designed for acceptance, processing and distribution of space images, and formation of SC flight missions in accordance with the application forms of customers for space imageries of surface of the Earth.
ERS SS RK is designed for provision of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan to obtain the prompt monitoring information of territory of the country and accept the ERS data as well for tasks solution of economy sectors, defense capacity and national security of the RK.
The Project is jointly implemented with the leading in Europe Airbus Defense and Space Company.
ERS SS includes two optic-electronic spacecrafts (SC): high spatial resolution (1m) «KazEOSat-1», medium spatial resolution (6,5 m) «KazEOSat-2», and also ground control complex for satellites and ground dedicated complex for acceptance, processing and distribution of ERS data for the end users.
The first Kazakhstan ERS high resolution satellite KazEOSat-1 was successfully launched from Kourou (French Guiana) in April 30, 2014.
The ERS SS medium resolution satellite KazEOSat-2 was launched from Russian launch site «Yasnyi» (Orenburg Region, Russia) in June 20, 2014.
In the frame of ERS SS RK Contract the Kazakhstan specialist were trained and preparation of transfer technology of designing, manufacture, assembly, testing and operation of spacecrafts.
